Dedication

This site is dedicated to the restoration of the Sacred Shrines and Temples of the Orisa Tradition and Culture located in Ile-Ife, Nigeria and surrounding historic cities and towns. It is dedicated to the elevation and unification of the African Spiritual Tradition as it has manifested itself throughout the African Diaspora, and to the revelation of the true history of Yorubaland, Nigeria and its place as the Root of Civilization. This site is also dedicated to the recognition of Ifa Divination's place as the Root of Human Spirituality. Ifa does not seek to convert people to a faith. It is instead a vehicle for the expression of the very essence of human spirituality. So in that respect, this is not a religious site but an educational one. The knowledge and guidance to be gained is open to everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, religious choice, or spiritual path. Our primary goal is to turn the attention of our readers to the history and culture of the Land of the Orisa Tradition. We hope to create understanding, appreciation, and inspiration. In the end, we hope to uplift humanity and demonstrate the spiritual reality and power of this most ancient of traditions. According to the Orisa Tradition, Ile-Ife [not the actual city of today] is the place where land was first separated from water. It is the place where divine beings first set foot on the earth, even before the creation of man. We invite you to join us on our Journey to the Root. This site will feature pictures and profiles of the Spiritual Leaders, Chiefs, and Head Babalawos and Priestesses of the Orisa tradition in Yorubaland, Nigeria. You'll see pictures of the Sacred Shrines and Temples as they exist today (2001) in Ile-Ife, Osogbo, Oyo, and other historic cities. Ifa-Source-Ile-Ife.org will also feature commentaries on the history and philosophy of Ifa and the Orisa Tradition, as well as African Spiritual and Herbal Healing. The primary source for these educational and inspirational articles will be Chief Adeyela Adelekan (1936-2008), the site advisor, the Emese, and the Isoro Traditional Council of Chiefs in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The Emese are the Guardians and Caretakers of the Source, the High Babalawos and Priestesses of the Ifa Tradition. The Ile Awo Orisa and this web site evolved from what has been spoken by those who are the custodians of the mysteries of the origins and nature of human spirituality.
