A
very long flight, but I did my ebos (sacrifices) to the Orisa who
would
carry me across the land and ocean in a flying bullet. Adebisi Adelekan
met me at the Lagos Airport. He is Chief Adeyela Adelekans oldest
son. Night was falling, the streets were packed with activity and it
wasnt safe to drive to Ile-Ife at night. I was rushed off to the
nearby Anchortel Ltd. by Ayo, Chief Adelekans son-in-law. Without
my luggage! It didnt arrive with the plane. There would be significance
to this. There are no accidents. Five thousand Niara at an exchange
of $1.00 to N100, for a room that China and Southeast Asia had prepared
me for. It would only be for a night. I could handle it. I wouldnt
have to worry about using the bathroom since my dietary discipline of
eating only one meal every three days, especially when traveling, helps
me to regulate my system. Of course I would have to take in a few crackers
or a granola bar each day to take my malaria medication. But that wouldnt
overwhelm my system. The fact that I would be out of communication
with
my family, friends, and college was of concern. I had no access to
my mobile phone service and local communications lacked infrastructure.
