I must admit I've been remiss in providing regular Updates in this section of the website. Needless to say, much has happened since my last update in 2011, some personal and some related to the Ifa Community. I hardly know where to begin or if I should even try to cover all that has happened. I guess many of the changes are reflected in the new materials that have appeared in the various sections of the website.
One of the most important and most recent events is the ascension of the last Ooni to the Realm of Ancestors and the installation of a new Ooni which through December 2015 and January 2016. Part of the process of the installation of the new Ooni is the retirement of the last Ooni's Staff. That staff chooses where it will reside among the descendants of Oduduwa spread around the world. For only the second time in the History of Ifa, Orunmila revealed that the Irukere (Staff of the last Ooni) chose two individuals to be its Guardians and Caretakers. To my great joy, the two individuals (The CHOSEN) also referred to as The Twins were chosen from our humble community of Ile Awo Orisa, out of a pool of over 300 devotees. More information will be shared about this wonderful event as I am informed by the Isoro Council as to what can be shared with the public.
What is the Irukere? The Irukere is the Staff of the Ooni and is a legacy of the Yoruba people that links the past and the present. It is the handle that travels back in time to the Diaspora to seek the souls of Oduduwa who is of Royal Descent.
I've also added new materials to the website, especially in the History of the Odus section and the Sacred Places of Ifa section. Also check out the update in the section on The 401 Orisa. I hope you will continue to visit the website and enjoy gathering new insights and information about the Ifa Tradition of Orisa and Ancestor Worship.
It was also in the last month or so that I was made aware of the fact that I am officially a fully authorized member of the Isoro Traditional Council of Chiefs and a Babalawo, honors which humble me beyond words. Iba se Orisa.
