This website is dedicated to the Students of Seifu A.S. Umar Sharif, MA. It is also dedicated to the promotion and propagation of the Traditional Afro-Asian Martial and Healing Arts. Our goal is to inform, educate, inspire, encourage, and motivate others to improve their lives by applying The Wisdom of the Ancients.
As your teacher and host, Seifu Sharif [aka: Xia` Xue' Gong] [aka: Tobi Alakoso] is dedicated to helping each of you to remember and nurture the Spirit of Wu-Te and the powers dormant within you.
During the summer of 1995, Seifu Sharif traveled to China
with a group of scholars from across the United States.
The trip was sponsored and facilitated by the East-West Center
Asian Studies Development Project and University of Hawaii.
It was an opportunity for scholars from various disciplines
to observe firsthand their specific area of interest in Chinese
Culture. For Seifu Sharif, the focus was the Martial and Healing
Arts of China. On June 21, 1995 Seifu Sharif wrote in his China
Diary from Beijing, China "All around me people are
doing some form of chi kung. Some people are doing standing
meditation - just standing in an attention posture. Some are
harmonizing their chi with a tree in front of them. Some have
their arms outstretched, projecting their chi through their
hands. In the mornings, I've seen old and young Chinese doing
tai chi, empty hand and with swords. Chi Kung and exercise in
general are woven into the very fabric of Chinese culture and
the psyche and consciousness of the Chinese people. Nothing
in America, not even the spa or fitness center phenomenon compares
with the Chinese integration of chi into everyday life."
Seifu Sharif studied Yang Style Tai Chi
Chu'an with Grandmaster Li, Shixin and his top
assistant, Madam Master Chen. At the time Grandmaster
Li was the head of Physical Education at Beijing University
and a nationally recognized Master of both Tai Chi Chu'an and
Shaolin Kung Fu. He was an advisor to the National Wu-Su Competitive
and Performance Teams of The PRC.
While at Qufu University in the city
of Qufu, the birthplace and memorial burial place of Confucius,
Seifu Sharif also studied Yang Style with Madam Shifu
Li, Master of Tai Chi Chu'an and head of Physical Education
for Qufu University. On June 29, 1995 while visiting and training
with Shifu Li, Seifu Sharif wrote in his diary "The
compliments and comments I'm paid by Teachers of Traditional
Chinese Martial Arts has increased my self-confidence considerably.
People actually stop and bow to me and our tour guide (Hao Ping)
has actually asked me to be his master. I'm introduced to other
Teachers as a Master of Qigong and Shaolin Kung Fu and accepted
as such." Seifu's experiences in China had a profound
effect on the development of the 7 Circles System.
