This website is dedicated to the Students of Seifu A.S. Umar Sharif, MA. It is also dedicated to the promotion and propagation of the Traditional Afro-Asian Martial and Healing Arts. Our goal is to inform, educate, inspire, encourage, and motivate others to improve their lives by applying The Wisdom of the Ancients.

As your teacher and host, Seifu Sharif [aka: Xia` Xue' Gong] [aka: Tobi Alakoso] is dedicated to helping each of you to remember and nurture the Spirit of Wu-Te and the powers dormant within you.

The Spirit of Wu-Te

The spiritual nature of the martial arts was first put forth in the Ancient Nile River Valley Civilizations of Africa. The hunter-warrior and warrior-priest have been the caretakers of humanity since the dawn of our species. With each successive generation and epoch, and in each cultural tradition, this relationship between the warrior and the community has been defined and refined. The warrior is called up to bring physical strength, mental clarity, emotional stability, and effective strategy to warefare. But in the highest tradition of the Warrior-Priest or Warrior-Poet, the overriding image and role is that of Protector of the Community, Defender of the Way, and Clearer of the Path.

adjspear.gifIn the System called Me'je Oruka, the practitioner was not simply trying to mimic the survival behaviors of animals and insects [as in the Chinese Kung Fu Tradition]. In Me'je Oruka, the rituals and ceremonies of training are designed to evoke those animal natures from within the 'spiritual warrior'. They are all locked up in our genetic code; dormant, but there. Additionally, Me'je Oruka provokes a spiritual awareness that enhances the practitioner's ability to affect and effect their environment and their experiences on their Earthwalk. All available and accessible sources of wisdom and spiritual power are conjured by a compassionate heart for the sake of the community.

WU-TE is the discipline of calling forth from the Stream of Consciousness only those thoughts that harmonize with the Higher Self. Empathy, Compassion, Love, Courage. Humility, Kindness, Patience, and Diligence. The Spiritual Warrior walks the Path of WU-TE so that the world might know the joy of Peace and Brotherhood. We Hold Back Fear and Call The Earth To Witness. We are Eagles Sitting On The Perch. Yet, lying quietly within us is all of the power of the creation.

In the 7Circles Pai and Me'je Oruka Elegbe we embrace the notion of WU-TE, first promulgated by the patriarch of Shaolin Kung Fu, the Indian Buddhist Priest Da Mo. WU-TE is the Path of practicing the Martial and Healing Arts for the purpose of Spiritual Development. Self-Defense is a secondary but assured benefit.

One of Seifu Sharif's most passionate efforts is to bring the Wisdom of the Way to at-risk and disadvantaged youth who otherwise are inclined to become a burden to themselves and their society. To this end Seifu Sharif is available to facilitate discussions and demonstrations about the Traditional Martial and Healing Arts to youth groups and high school students.
